Michael Vick

Background info #1: I hate the Philadelphia Eagles
Background info #2: I have a pit bull and support animal rights groups, and I'm a vegetarian

There is your disclaimer on bias....

I used to love Michael Vick... I though he was a rare athletic talent. Even though he played in Atlanta, I still considered him on of my favorite NFL players. (I myself like the NY Giants, Carolina Panthers, and Cleveland Browns...) Then he has to go a fuck shit up. I will never ever ever ever forgive Michael Vick for his actions. They were deplorable. That being said, I do agree that he deserved a second chance. I don't not agree with the deification on Vick just because he can run and throw a damn ball really well. I think Americans need to wake up. It's ok to be happy he doing something positive with his second chance, but come on.... Tell you what, I'll revisit this post AFTER Vick signs his next contract, and let's see how much of his multi-million dollar deal goes to animal welfare groups..... Then, we will all see if his character lives up to his current hype.

Why I'm voting Dem on Tuesday

I don't always agree with dems, but I find I agree with them about 85 times more than the gops, and their bastardized cousins, the tea party. I'm genuinely fearful of a right wing take over in this midterm, and here is why: It would demolish America as we know it. First off all, there is no bipartisanship in the gov right now, so NOTHING would be accomplished for the next 2 years, except maybe the following doomsday scenarios.

Scenario A: Freeze Government Spending
Well here is a great way to cut funding to millions of Americans who are actually working now! Cutting jobs out of the bureaucracy puts people out of work. And taking away gov funding to community jobs (teachers, law enforcement, etc) will result in even more people out of work and the destruction of local communities.

Scenario B: Tax Cuts All Around
Look, I hate taxes. I Do. But YOU DO NOT CUT TAXES WHEN THE GOVERNMENT IS IN A DEFICIT!!! How else we gonna make moeny?!?!? Tariffs? Well, we live in a free trade society now, so, no.

Scenario C: Big Business Tax Cuts
The best friends of the right, wall street, banks, major corporations, do not give two shits about the American people. They want your money. They don't want to pay you money. They don't want to give you a job! (more on that in a sec)

Scenario D: Kick out all the Mexicans!
Illegal immigrants are the 2nd (or maybe 1st) hated group in the country other that Muslims. So go ahead right wingers! Kick em all out, and put up that damn wall! Keep em out! THEN, all of the corporations can move to Mexico, where all the cheap labor is located, and still not pay taxes or tariffs due to aforementioned tax cuts and free trade agreements! YAY!!!!

Scenario E: Repeal ALL of the amendments to the US Constitution....
Oh man, the right would love to do nothing more than take away civil liberties to minorities, the poor, and the downtrodden. It is, after all, their fault they can't get a job, can't live in a gated community, and their ancestors didn't voluntarily sail across the oceans.... Ever notice how all the so called "Constitutional Purists" didn't say a damn thang during the W. administration's wire taps and patriot acts..... hypocrisy: It knows class and racial boundaries!

So go ahead and vote republicorp, and let's start a new America, a caste system based America...

The Problem with the tea party

There are several, but here is the main one: THERE IS NO LEADER! Several un-unified groups claiming to be "tea parties" running around the country preaching fiscal responsibility and lower taxes... Way to distance yourself from, oh, EVERY OTHER PARTY EVER CREATED! Name one political party (aside from the real socialist parties) that ever ran a platform of higher taxes??? IT NEVER HAPPENED! Now why should anyone vote for a bunch of unorganized yahoos? Have you ever listened to one of the "tea party leaders" speak??? I would laugh if I didn't feel so bad for them.... So you know what, I hope that tea party does win a lot of seats this midterm election, and in 2 years Obama gets re-elected and dems take over again. And here is a campaign slogan for em: "The Tea Party: Kinda like the 21st Century Whig Party...."

The 2nd Amendment and You

I love guns. And I'm pretty damn left wing in my beliefs. Yes. It can happen. A liberal-socio-anarchist who is pro gun! I believe every single person that is not a violent criminal in America has the right to bare arms: within reason... It seems odd that the right wing gun nuts think that responsible gun control is unconstitutional. Don't they realize that basic gun controls laws are designed to protect US citizens????? A screening process before you can purchase a gun is one of the most sensible things that our country can do to ensure that bad people don't own a gun. Also, I find amusing that the Brady Bill was enacted due to the assassination attempt on the GOP golden calf Ronald Reagen! Now, let us discuss assault rifles....... YOU DON'T NEED AN ASSAULT RIFLE FOR HUNTING OR PROTECTION!!! It's that simple. Right wingers are supposedly soooo supportive of our military and law enforcement, so why can't you let them do they're job??? Why do you need and AR-15 or an AK-47? A .357 does just fine for personal defense, and a Remington hunting rifle does just fine for the purpose stated in its name. So don't act like the left is coming for you... I would worry more about the neo-nazi white supremacist militias who want to take down the government and change the protected rights granted to us in the US Constitution!

Skool Sux

So after being out of the education game for a few years, I'm getting back on that horse and trying to finish my damn B.S. in Marine Biology! Trouble is, I have a shitty GPA at UNC-Wilmington and can't get back in till next summer... So I'm taking classes at Cape Fear Community College just to kill time, and maybe get some courses transferred over (and possibly an A.S. in General Science.) After registering for 4 pretty easy classes (Western Civ, Intro to Computers, Intro to English Lit, and Pre-Calculus) I discovered that just because the classes are easy and taught at a community college, the price of books doesn't drop! 4 classes=OVER $600 in books! (if I ordered them from the school bookstore...) I was able to rent 3 books, but the rest weren't available ANYWHERE else cheaper than the school's bookstore (amazon and half.com didn't even have them!) I wish there was a congressional panel that would look in to the booming textbook racket run by the universities and book publishers here in the US.

So Fresh, So Clean

Been 4 years since I been on here, so I'm starting from scratch. All the old posts were kinda lame anyway. So, here's to rediscovery! Gonna try to post something at least once a week (emphasis on "try")
